Vol. 120 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Portmarnock Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state why the general sewerage scheme which was prepared for Portmarnock in 1948 was stopped, and whether it will be carried out in the near future.

I am not aware that the preparation of any sewerage scheme for Portmarnock was completed in 1948 and subsequently stopped, as suggested. Alternative schemes were under consideration last year and the county council has now decided to proceed with a section of the general scheme which will serve the new housing scheme. It is a matter for the county council to have plans for the remainder of the work prepared. The final section of the work will have to be related to the sewage disposal works proposed in connection with the Howth main drainage scheme.

Is the Minister aware that the original scheme in 1948 was estimated to cost over £60,000? The Minister has not answered my question.

I answered the Deputy's question.

I am not saying that it is your fault, but that is my impression.
