Vol. 120 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Search of Premises.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state under what circumstances members of the Gardaí visited and searched the premises of Mr. Michael O'Connor of Ballygoran Park, Maynooth, on Tuesday, the 14th March, 1950.

I am informed that members of the Garda called at these premises to make inquiries about threatening notices which had been painted in the neighbourhood. They say that they looked into the out-offices but did not search the house.

Is the Minister aware that the Garda officers searched a shed, but were unable to produce any search warrant? Is he further aware that since the occasion of a trade dispute in the area three or four years ago, there has been persistent besetting of this man's dwelling-house? Is he further aware that the landlord of the dwelling-house which he occupies was approached with a view to taking steps to have this man evicted? I should be glad if the Minister would look into these matters.

I would suggest to the Deputy that he knows the law.
