asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (1) when the Enniscorthy Urban Council may expect a town clerk to be appointed, and (2) the reason for the delay in this appointment.

(1) I am informed that on the 27th instant the Local Appointments Commissioners recommended to the Enniscorthy Urban District Council a person for appointment as town clerk. The appointment is now a matter for the local authority. (2) The Local Appointments Commissioners' recommendation has reached the local authority within six months of the making of the statutory request for the selection of a candidate. There does not appear to have been any avoidable delay in the matter.
