Vol. 120 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Poultry Breeding.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether his Department recommend dual purpose poultry breeding; and, if so, if he will indicate which breeds would best serve these purposes.

I assume that the Deputy's question refers to domestic fowl and not to turkeys, geese or ducks. For the ordinary run of farms in this country the general purpose breeds of domestic fowl are considered most suitable. The most popular of these breeds are Rhode Island Red, Light Sussex, and White Wyandotte, in that order.
