Vol. 120 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cloneygowan Drain Repair.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what action was taken by the Land Commission in the reconstruction of a main drain from Derreen to Kilcappa, at Cloneygowan, Portarlington, Offaly; and, further, if he received representations in this connection on the 22nd September, 1948.

The repair and maintenance of this drain is not a matter for the Land Commission. The answer to the second part of the question is "Yes."

Could the Minister give any reason as to why his Department did not communicate that information to the interested parties and Deputies? That is the first I heard of that.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the Land Commission propose to divide the lands on the Marsh estate, Tubber, Offaly (M.L. 1820-48), and what is the present position in regard to this estate.

Proceedings are in progress for the acquisition of this estate, but it is too early yet to state if and when the lands will be acquired.
