Vol. 120 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin-Belfast Main Road.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the dangerous condition of the main Dublin-Belfast road at Santry, County Dublin, due to narrow and blind bends; and, if so, whether he will allocate a grant from the Road Fund for the purpose of making the roadway safe at this point.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate when work will be restarted upon the removal of the dangerous corner at Cloghran on the main Dublin-Belfast road.

With the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 31 and 32 together.

The execution of road works in their area is primarily a matter for the Dublin County Council, who have already been informed of the Road Fund grants which will be made available to them for the present financial year.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary indicate whether all or any portion of the £80,000 which was earmarked for the development of this road will be devoted to the remedying of these two very serious matters?

The county council submitted their proposals, but they did not include any scheme for the improvement of the Santry road or the Cloghran road.

Am I to take it that the promise made to Deputy Dunne last year when the Deputy voted for the reduction in the road grant has now gone with the wind?
