Vol. 120 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Caherciveen Hospital Accommodation.

asked the Minister for Health if the differences between his Department and the Kerry County Council regarding the cost of planning and of erection of the new Caherciveen hospital have yet been settled; and, further, if he will state the latest developments in connection with the erection of this much-delayed project.

On 29th March, 1950, I informed the House of the latest position regarding this project, namely, that I had informed the local authority that I had determined the amount of the grant from the Hospitals' Trust Fund which would be available for the provision of a hospital at reasonable cost in accordance with suggestions which I had made. The local authority were also informed that, if they wished to proceed with a more elaborate structure, I would be reluctantly prepared to agree to their doing so, but only on the basis that they themselves would bear the extra cost involved.

I have received no communication from the local authority since then.
