asked the Minister for Finance whether he will make a suitable pitch in Phoenix Park available for polo players, and if he will state why the pitch formerly used for this purpose cannot be made available.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Phoenix Park Polo Grounds.
I am advised that the only site in the Phoenix Park which would be suitable for a polo ground is that which was previously used for the purpose. I have undertaken that the site will be made available to the former licensees on its being surrendered by the Dublin Corporation, who at present hold it for allotment purposes. It is understood that the All-Ireland Polo Club have been in negotiation with the corporation with a view to the surrender of the site at the close of the present cropping season.
Mr. Byrne
Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the corporation are getting possession of the old polo ground at the end of December and that they have money included in their estimates to restore the ground to its former condition and hand it back to the polo committee?
The corporation have?
Mr. Byrne
Yes.
I am delighted to hear it.
