D'fhiafraigh

den Aire Poist agus Telegrafa an bhfuil fhois aige go bhfuiltear chun ceantar Ros an Mhíl a bhaint de Chasla agus a chur isteach le Baile na nAbhann chun críocha seachadadh litreach; go bhfuil Ros an Mhíl an dá oiread achair ó Bhaile na nAbhann is atá sé ó Chasla; go mbeidh ar fhear an phosta freastal ar cheithre scór teach le cois an cheithre scór agus cheithre cinn atá ina cheantar cheana; go ndéanfaidh an t-athrú a chuid oibre an-aistreánach agus go mbeidh seachadadh na litreach an-mhall i Ros an Mhíl; go bhfuil muintir na gcúig fobhailte i gceantar Ros an Mhíl anmhíshásta leis an socrú nua atá beartaithe; agus an bhféachfaidh sé chuige nach gcuirfear an socrú sin i bhfeidhm.

I am unable to agree to the abandonment of the proposed transfer of the Rossaveal district from Costelloe to the Ballynahown delivery as this is an essential part of a revision designed to give daily deliveries over a wide area which has only a three-day or four-day delivery at present.

The alteration will involve little change in the time of delivery to Rossaveal.

Can the Minister say if the Costelloe post office is to remain the money order office for the districts that are now being transferred to Ballynahown?

We are giving 18 additional townlands more frequent deliveries. The postman's wages have been increased on account of the increase in the hours of his work but there is less expense over the whole area.

Would the Minister listen to representations from some of the local people on this matter as there is very grave dissatisfaction?

I can assure the Deputy that there can be no dissatisfaction because under this arrangement 18 additional townlands will get a daily delivery without any extra expense to the community. It will mean only about half an hour delay in the delivery in some townlands.

Would the Minister agree that the people are dissatisfied with the change?

I am satisfied from my information that there is no dissatisfaction in the district.
