Vol. 121 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ware Potato Exports.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will now make the statement promised in connection with our contract to sell 50,000 tons of ware potatoes to the British Ministry of Food.

I regret to say there are certain matters affecting this transaction which are still in an indeterminate state and I am not yet in a position to make a conclusive statement on the subject. As soon as I am, however, I shall let the Deputy have full particulars, and, if he so desires, have them circulated in the Official Report.

The Minister can surely say if the contract was filled on the 15th.

I can assure the Deputy that if I was free to add anything to that I would do so now. I undertake to give him the fullest particulars the moment I am free to do so and, if he wishes it, to circulate them in the Official Report.

The Minister is quite aware that he invited me to put down this question.

I apologise to the Deputy for not giving him the information. I ask his indulgence for a few days more.
