Vol. 121 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sales of Unrationed Sugar.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the quantity of unrationed sugar sold during the financial year 1949-50, the cost price of such sugar to the Irish Sugar Company, and the wholesale and retail prices charged for it.

The quantity of unrationed sugar sold during the financial year 1949-50 was 60,582 tons.

The Irish Sugar Company is a commercial concern and in the case of such a concern it is not the practice to disclose particulars of the kind for which the Deputy asks in the second part of the question.

The wholesale and retail prices of unrationed sugar are 65/4 per cwt. and 7½d. per lb., respectively.
