An inter-departmental committee (not a commission) was appointed in October, 1947, to examine conditions obtaining on the Great Blasket Island, and to make such recommendations as was thought fit, with the object of improving living conditions. It is not proposed to publish the report, but it can be stated that its recommendations concern a number of Government Departments and that active consideration is being given to the question of improving the conditions of the islanders.

Mr. Pádraig ó Cuinneáin asked the Minister for Lands whether he proposes to publish the findings of the commission established to investigate the reasons for the complete migration of the Irish-speaking population from the Blasket Islands in the years 1932 to 1948.
