Vol. 122 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Powers of Dublin Corporation.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he proposes to introduce proposals for legislation to restore to the Corporation of Dublin democratic powers in accordance with the promises made to the citizens of Dublin.

The management systems in Dublin City and in the other three county boroughs are governed by separate statutes which will be reviewed in pursuance of the Government's intention to restore the powers of local authorities when the Local Government (County Administration) Bill, recently introduced to repeal the County Management Acts, has been dealt with.

Do I gather from the Minister that this important matter has not already been considered and decisions taken in regard to it?

I think the Deputy has not got my point. We have introduced the Local Government (County Administration) Bill and, following that, the legislation for the cities will be dealt with.

Do I understand the Minister to say that a City Management Bill will be introduced?
