Vol. 122 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Boats for Fishermen.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if the necessary arrangements have now been made and official sanction given so that fishermen may obtain boats and gear on a 10 per cent. deposit.

An extraordinary meeting of the Irish Sea Fisheries Association, Limited, is being convened for 3rd August, 1950, for the purpose of altering the rules of the association so as to provide for the acceptance in special circumstances by the Associations from a member of a lower prepayment than 20 per cent. but not less than 10 per cent. of the cost of any fishing boat, gear, fittings, etc., issued to such member on hire-purchase during the period ending 31st December, 1952. If an alteration in the rules to this effect is adopted at that meeting, my approval, as required by Rule 168 of the association, will be duly accorded.
