Vol. 122 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authorities (Works) Act.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the total amount allocated and sanctioned for Kerry under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, and how much of that sum has been granted for the two electoral areas of Killarney and Killorglin in South Kerry.

The grant allocated to Kerry County Council for works under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, for the 1950-51 period is £80,000.

The selection from approved schemes of works to be undertaken within the total amount of this allocation is a matter for the Kerry County Council and I have no information as to how the allocation is proposed to be apportioned as between particular areas.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of (a) County Leix and (b) County Offaly the number of persons employed on works under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, in each of the years 1949 and 1950.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the number of persons employed on road, drainage and building work by (a) Leix County Council and (b) Offaly County Council during the years 1947, 1948, 1949 and 1950.

I propose, with your permission, a Chinn Comhairle, to take Question Nos. 45 and 47 together, and as the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, to have it circulated with the Official Report.
