Vol. 122 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Conveyance of Milk.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that the Dairy Disposals Company failed to provide facilities for the conveyance of milk from the areas of Cromane, Caragh Lake and Glencutane, County Kerry, and whether he is prepared to consider the matter with a view to having these facilities provided.

I am informed by the Dairy Disposals Company that the quantity of milk in the areas of Cromane, Caragh Lake and Glencutane which is not already being delivered to creameries would not be sufficient to warrant the provision of a special lorry by the company for the purpose of collecting this milk. I have already suggested that the farmers in these areas should arrange amongst themselves for the conveyance of combined milk supplies to the nearest creamery or travelling creamery stop, as is done by farmers in many other areas. The company would, I am sure, be glad to assist in the making of such arrangements by the farmers.
