asked the Minister for Health if he will state the total grants made available under the Health Services (Financial Provisions) Act, 1947, in the years 1948-49 and 1949-50.

The total amounts of grants payable under the Health Services (Financial Provisions) Act, 1947, in respect of the years 1948-49 and 1949-50 are estimated at £1,875,000 and £2,542,000 respectively.
The total of the amounts issued to health authorities in the year 1948-49 was £1,677,600 and further payments made in the year 1949-50, but in respect of the year 1948-49, amounted to £188,000. Of the 1949-50 grants a sum of £2,404,000 was issued within the year. The balances due to health authorities will be paid as soon as final and audited accounts are available.
In the event of Deputy Dr. Brennan's question not being taken on the Adjournment, I should like to give notice that I intend to raise the subject matter of Question No. 36.
