asked the Minister for Agriculture if concrete pipes used under the land rehabilitation project have proved unsatisfactory and if their use has been discontinued.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Use of Concrete Pipes.
The answer to the first part of the question is "Yes". As to the second part, the position is that the Department of Agriculture has suspended the purchase of concrete pipes until such time as specifications at present being prepared by the Institute for Research and Standards are in the hands of manufacturers and pipes made in accordance with these specifications are available.
Can the Minister say what action will be taken in regard to pipes that have been laid and have been found defective? Will they be replaced?
I do not quite follow what the Deputy wishes me to answer. Is it pipes laid down by the Department of Agriculture proving defective?
