Vol. 123 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Laoighis Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will ascertain whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the lands of Mr. Robert Corbett, at Larrigan, Clonaslee, County Laoighis, with a view to their division amongst the deserving applicants for land in the area; and, if so, with what result.

The representations recently made to the Land Commission in this matter will receive due consideration.

The Minister has not indicated whether these lands are to be inspected at an early date or not. In view of the fact that the lands have been offered for sale recently and that there has been no purchaser, will the Minister consider an early inspection of the land with a view to its acquisition and division amongst deserving local applicants?

An inspection will take place, but it will have to be carried out in its chronological order.

In view of the fact that officials of the Land Commission are likely to be in Laoighis-Offaly for a long time, would the Minister request the Land Commission to instruct their officials to inspect this farm when they are inspecting other farms in the area, so as to prevent a long wait when the inspectors leave the area and have to go back again to carry out the inspection?

That is what will happen.
