Vol. 123 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Foreign Professor.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state whether Professor Janossy, formerly of the School of Cosmic Physics, was under surveillance by the aliens branch of the Department of Justice while in this country; and, if so, with what result.

This alien was registered on 30th September, 1947, and he complied with the requirements of the Aliens Order, 1946. I do not consider that it would be in the public interest to say any more.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, in which he stated that it would not be in the public interest to say any more, is it not a fact that the police hounded the professor while he was in this country and for what reason? Can the Minister give us any information?

Well, why will the Minister not give that information? The Minister will not give it.

Am I to understand——
