asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether a site for the building of 20 houses was acquired at Rathroe, Killenaule, County Tipperary, some years ago and if he will state why no houses have been built upon this site.

The site at Killenaule referred to by the Deputy was included in a compulsory purchase Order providing for the acquisition of sites for approximately 630 cottages throughout the county which was confirmed in May, 1949. I understand that lay-out and house plans for a scheme of 20 houses on the site have been prepared and are about to be submitted for approval.
The county council have a comparatively large housing programme to carry out and progress to date is satisfactory. The order of priority in which housing schemes are undertaken in the various districts throughout the county is a matter for the council.
