Vol. 123 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages of Kilworth Camp Employee.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that the assistant herd in Kilworth Camp is in receipt of a wage of only £2 17s. 6d. per week, and if he will arrange for an increase in his wages to the level paid to county council workers.

The assistant to the land steward at Kilworth Camp is in receipt of a wage of £2 18s. 4d. per week less a deduction of 9d. per week in respect of national health insurance and widows' and orphans' pensions. In accordance with established practice and having regard to the nature of his duties, this employee is paid the local rate applicable to agricultural labourers. The question of a slight adjustment in his rate of wages is at present under consideration.
