Vol. 123 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Service Pensions Applications.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will indicate (a) the number of applications received from West Cork under the Military Service Pensions (Amendment) Act, 1949; (b) the number dealt with; (c) the number of pensions granted; (d) the number to be dealt with, and (e) when it is hoped to deal with outstanding claims.

If "West Cork" is interpreted as coinciding approximately with the Cork III and Cork V brigade areas, the replies to the questions raised by the Deputy are as follows:— (a) 135; (b) 7; (c) nil; (d) 128; (e) it is not possible to indicate when the outstanding claims will be dealt with as the Referee and board must also consider the claims of other areas for the hearing of cases and could not reasonably be expected to give special preference to any particular area.
