Vol. 123 No. 8

- Price Control.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state how long the principles and operation of the present system of price control have been under such consideration by the Government, as was referred to by him in reply to a question on the 9th instant.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if it is intended, pending the establishment of proper price control machinery, to introduce a prices standstill order in respect of commodities, the production and/or manufacture of which are not dependent on imported raw materials, and if he will say whether he is yet in a position to make a full statement covering the question of high prices and the cost of living for the benefit of such members of the public who, due to that complete lack of knowledge of economic facts referred to by him (col. 886, Vol. 123) on Thursday, 16th instant, feel that some positive steps should be taken in the matter by his Department.

With the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 68 and 69 together.

As stated in replies to questions addressed to the Taoiseach and the Minister for Industry and Commerce yesterday, this matter will be dealt with on the Second Stage of the Supplies and Services Bill to-day.
