Vol. 123 No. 8

- Local Authorities (Works) Act.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the total number of workers employed on works under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, in the last week for which figures are available.

8,592 men in mid-October, 1950.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether he has received a programme of works from Kinsale Urban District Council under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949; and, if so, if he will state the present position in regard to it.

Proposals for seven works to be carried out in the present financial year were submitted by the Kinsale Urban District Council. Three of the works were approved some time ago and the appropriate grant allocated. Three more of the works have been revised locally and are now being approved. The remaining work is unnecessary as the flooding which it was intended to prevent has been dealt with partly by a scheme completed last year and will be finally disposed of by one of the works now approved.
