Vol. 123 No. 9

Fine Arts Bill, 1950—First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to promote the knowledge, appreciation and practice of the fine arts and, for this purpose, to establish an arts council, and to provide for other matters in connection with the matters aforesaid.—(The Taoiseach).

This day week.

Will the Bill be ready this day week?

I hope to have it by the week-end. If not, and if Deputies want any further time, they can have any time they wish. I merely suggested this day week provisionally.

That is remarkable expedition.

The Deputy is always helpful.

When are we going to get the four Bills introduced last July?

You will get them when it suits us.

But not when you say we will—make a promise and break it.

No, when it suits us.

Second Stage ordered for Wednesday, 6th December, 1950.
