Vol. 123 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Workers.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the great number of road workers unemployed in Tipperary South Riding, and if he is prepared to make an additional grant from the Road Fund, in view of the poverty and hardships existing in the area owing to such unemployment.

I am not aware that the position is as represented by the Deputy. The council's share of the Road Fund grants for the current financial year has already been notified and allocated to specific works. In addition, a substantial grant has been made available for works under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949.
