Vol. 123 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage and Reclamation Work.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the present position in connection with the proposed drainage and reclamation work at Minane Bridge, County Cork.

Considerable progress has been made on this project, but I am not yet in a position to say whether or not the work will be undertaken.

Will the Minister be in a position to indicate in the near future where we stand, since there is grave danger of extreme flooding and damage to housing in that area? The Minister is aware that this has gone on for the last 15 or 16 years.

I am not in a position to say definitely yet. I will say that the final decision will take a few months.

It will take a few months?

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission will carry out the construction of a face drain and other work requested to be done on Greetiagh bog, Craig Waller estate, near Navan, County Meath, and the reconstruction of small bridges and other drainage work on bogs at Emlagh and Drakerath, Carlanstown, County Meath.

It is proposed to carry out certain improvements on Greetiagh bog. The Land Commission have no liability for the improvement of the bogs at Emlagh and Drakerath and do not propose to undertake the work mentioned in the latter part of the question.
