Vol. 123 No. 13

Written Answers. - Valuations.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state for each of the years 1932 to 1950, inclusive, the number and total valuations of (a) new dwelling-houses; (b) new business premises; and (c) new business premises and dwelling-houses combined first brought into rating valuation.

I regret I am not able to supply the information sought by the Deputy as its extraction would involve an expenditure of time and labour and dislocation of the normal statutory work of the Valuation Office which, I feel, would not be warranted.

Because of the unsatisfactory reply I received from the Minister for Agriculture dealing with the subject-matter of Question No. 45, with your permission, I intend to raise it on the Adjournment.

I shall consider that, and inform the Deputy later.

In connection with the statement made here on Thursday night by the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs associating me with a most unsavoury event in Baltinglass, I would be grateful if you would consider permitting me some time before the House adjourns to make a personal explanation.

Possibly to-morrow, if the Deputy sees me later. I would like to know the nature of the matter.
