asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what commodities have been exempted from the Prices and Charges (Standstill) Order, by what method were such exemptions effected and what measures were taken to bring them to public notice; and, furthermore, if he is in a position to indicate what further exemptions are in contemplation.

Maize and cement have been removed from the schedule to the Prices and Charges (Standstill) Order, by the Prices and Charges (Standstill) Order, 1951 (Amendment) (No. 1) Order, 1951 made on 30th January, 1951, public notice of which was given in the daily papers on the following day. The question of what further articles should be excluded from the scope of the standstill Order is at present under consideration.
