Vol. 124 No. 1

Order of Business.

Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 14. Private Deputies' Business will be taken at 9 o'clock.

Would the Taoiseach facilitate the Dáil by indicating when the Second Reading of the Social Welfare Bill is likely to be taken?

I understand that the Tánaiste is ready at any time.

The Taoiseach will appreciate that if the Dáil settles down to the Committee Stage of the Local Government (County Administration) Bill, it would probably prefer to complete that before going on to another major measure. Is that the Government's intention or is it intended that the Social Welfare Bill will be taken to-morrow or next week?

The Social Welfare Bill will not be taken to-morrow. It will be taken this session.

Oh, this session?

Could the Taoiseach give a more definite indication?

Before Easter.

May I remind you that I have already given notice that I propose to raise the subject matter of the Taoiseach's replies, to supplementary questions in particular, on Question No. 2?

The subject matter of the supplementary questions?

Of the replies.

The whole subject matter, of course.

Arising out of the question on the Order Paper.
