asked the Taoiseach if he will state (a) the total quantity of butter exported from this country during the 12 months ending 1st February, 1951; (b) the price received per cwt., and (c) the total quantity of butter imported during the same period or purchased for import and the cost per cwt. of this imported butter when delivered to this country.
(a) The total quantity of butter (including creamery and factory) exported during the 12 months ended 31st January, 1951, amounted to 61,646 cwt. There were no exports of farmers' butter.
(b) The average price (f.o.b.) received was £17 9s. 4d. per cwt.
(c) The total quantity of butter imported during the same period, or purchased for import, was 50,000 cwt., and the average price (c.i.f.) was £18 16s. 7d.
