Vol. 124 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fermoy Bridge—Removal of Islands.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether there is sufficient money available to complete the removal of the islands at Fermoy Bridge; and, if not, whether he will take steps to make the necessary money available.

I am not aware that the approved estimate for the scheme under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, for the removal of the islands at Fermoy Bridge is not sufficient to complete the work. The Cork County Council, who are the responsible authority, have made no representations in this matter. I understand that owing to the high level of water in the river at present the carrying out of further work on the scheme is impracticable until later in the spring.
