Vol. 124 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wilton Hospital, Cork.

asked the Minister for Health if he will indicate whether tenders have yet been invited for the development of the site and the building of the regional general and maternity hospital at Wilton, Cork; and, if not, when will they be and the approximate date when he hopes to have this hospital completed.

The diagrammatic sketch scheme for this project has been examined in my Department and I am expecting to receive shortly from the local authority a revised scheme incorporating recommendations made as a result of recent conferences held with the architect for the project. This revised scheme has not yet been received in my Department. It will be examined as expeditiously as possible when it becomes available.

The next stage will be the preparation of final sketch plans. On completion of this stage, working drawings and specification can be undertaken and this will be followed by the preparation of bills of quantities and other contract documents. Tenders cannot be invited until these stages have been completed.

I am unable to say at this stage when the hospital is likely to be completed.
