Vol. 125 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Meals.

Mr. A. Byrne

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether he is aware that the Schools Meals Committee of the Dublin area made an order on 20th February last to the effect that the school meal shall consist of milk and sandwiches, the sandwiches consisting of meat on two days, cheese on one day, fruit bun on one day and bread and jam on one day; further, if he is aware that since then an advertisement has appeared in the Dublin newspapers for tenders which does not include the fruit bun for the one day a week meal; and, if so, whether he will take steps to ensure that the recommendation of the committee regarding the provision of a fruit bun meal is complied with.

I understand that the City Manager is arranging for the insertion of fresh advertisements in the newspapers, inviting tenders for the supply of fruit buns on one day weekly for the school meals service in Dublin.
