Vol. 125 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork County Council Housing.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in regard to the houses erected by the Cork County Council (South Health District) the number of local authority houses (a) erected during the past year; (b) at present in course of construction; (c) for which plans are being at present prepared, and (d) expected to be completed during the coming year.

According to information furnished to me by the Cork County Council (South), the number of houses in each of the categories mentioned by the Deputy is:—

(a) 212; (b) 446; (c) 154; (d) 600.

In addition to the figure at (b), tenders have been accepted for 121 further cottages on which work has not yet started. The figures in all cases relate to the 12 months ended 28th February, 1951.

In connection with those houses, is the Minister aware that not one acre of the land on which these people are living has been paid for?

That is an entirely separate question.
