Vol. 125 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tuberculosis Allowances for Members of Defence Forces.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that any member of the services who contracted tuberculosis after 1946 is not entitled to a special allowance or a disability pension under the Army Pensions Acts; and, if so, whether he will consider introducing proposals for legislation to cover these cases.

I am aware that members of the Defence Forces who contract disease while serving subsequent to the emergency period are not eligible for the grant of special allowances or disability pensions under the Army Pensions Acts. I do not propose to introduce legislation to provide for such cases.
