Vol. 125 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rag Export Licence.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that an application for renewal of his woollen rag export licence by Mr. Michael Cullen, of Port Road, Letterkenny, County Donegal, was refused and that he was referred by his Department to a Dublin firm of rag dealers, to whom he has written three times without response and if, in the circumstances, he will now have the licence issued to Mr. Cullen.

I am aware that, in connection with his application for a licence to export woollen rags, Mr. Cullen was referred to the firm mentioned, who have recently installed plant for the processing of certain types of woollen rags.

My Department was informed that a reply was sent by Messrs. Carroll to Mr. Cullen, but I am not aware of the contents of the letter. If the applicant can establish that the rags he has for disposal cannot be utilised within the country his application for an export licence will be further considered.
