Vol. 126 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tramore Housing Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the Tramore Town Commissioners are demanding that work be commenced on preparation and development works for the proposed housing scheme at Crowbally Upper, Tramore; and, if so, if he will state the present position of the proposed scheme giving, if possible, the likely date of commencement and the causes of the delay to date.

I am aware of the Tramore Town Commissioners' desire that the Waterford County Council should undertake this housing scheme as soon as possible. Approval to the acceptance of a tender for the development of the site was conveyed to the council on the 4th April last. The successful contractor withdrew his tender on the 29th May. On the 21st June my sanction was sought to the acceptance by the county council of another tender. Sanction was issued immediately and the council was urged to have the work expedited.
