Vol. 126 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Loan Applications.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the Waterford County Council have decided to implement Section 7 of the Housing (Amendment) Act, 1950, and have applied for sanction to raise a loan of £16,000 to pay the grants; and, if so, whether he will indicate from what source the loan is to be raised and the terms under which it can be secured.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has yet reached a decision regarding the application of the Kilkenny County Council to raise a loan of £30,000 to finance the scheme for the provision of housing grants under Section 7 of the Housing (Amendment) Act, 1950; and, if so, the nature of the decision.

I propose, with your permission, a Chinn Chomhairle, to answer Questions 24 and 28 together.

I have received applications from the two local authorities concerned for approval to the raising of loans to finance operations under Section 7 of the Housing (Amendment) Act, 1950. The general question of borrowing for the purpose of approved schemes of this nature is at present under examination. It is hoped to communicate a decision to all local authorities concerned at an early date.
