Vol. 126 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Radio Éireann Reception.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that the people of Skibbereen town and district are greatly dissatisfied with the reception they get from Radio Éireann; and, if so, what steps he proposes to take to rectify their grievance.

Skibbereen is a long way from the transmitter at Athlone and to get the best practicable reception in Skibbereen, a good aerial and earth are essential as well as a receiver of suitable quality.

Tests have been made by my Department for some time past on a properly installed receiver in Skibbereen and the results have indicated that reception is reasonably good.

If listeners in Skibbereen and district who are experiencing difficulty regarding reception will get in touch with the engineering branch of the Department, their troubles will be investigated.
