Vol. 126 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flour for Harvest Workers.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware of the necessity for supplementing the present quota of flour which is allocated to proprietors of bakeries in South Kerry for allocating additional supplies of flour to farmers and workers engaged in harvesting operations; and, if so, what steps he proposes to take in the matter.

Bakers everywhere are entitled to obtain sufficient flour to enable them to supply the legal needs of all the persons from whom they have collected ration documents.

As I announced earlier, it is my intention to give special additional rations to harvest workers during the harvest period, and during that period the quantities of flour which will be made available to bakers will be increased correspondingly.
