Vol. 126 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Delay in Payment of Loans.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that there is grave dissatisfaction concerntanc ing the delay in the payment of grants and small dwellings loans in the Dublin area; and, if so, what action he proposes to take in the matter.

I am not aware that there is any avoidable delay in the payment of grants generally in the Dublin area. If, however, the Deputy has any specific cases in mind I will have them investigated on receiving details.

As regards loans under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts, these are dealt with by the responsible local housing authority. I am not clear as to whether the Deputy has in mind the city or the county area. I am not aware of any dissatisfaction in regard to advances in the city or Dún Laoghaire.

Some delay has, I understand, occurred in the county arising out of the occurrence of vacancies on the staff. I understand the matter was discussed at a recent meeting of the county council. The staff vacancies have now been filled on a strengthened basis and I am informing the housing director that I would be glad to see the position brought up to date as soon as possible.
