Vol. 126 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Limerick Housing.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state if any schemes for building houses at Mount Pelier, County Limerick, have been received by his Department for sanction or if the local authority have any schemes in the course of preparation; and, if so, if he will use his good offices to urge the local authority to expedite this work, as at least 12 houses are urgently needed in the village.

An Order for the compulsory acquisition of two sites in the townland of Mount Pelier for the erection of six cottages by the Limerick County Council was received in my Department on the 6th instant. The latest date for the receipt of objections to the Order is the 24th instant. I understand that the council hopes to secure additional sites by agreement. The normal procedure governing land acquisition will have to be followed, but there will be no avoidable delay in dealing with the matter so far as I am concerned.
