Vol. 126 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dressed Meat Industry.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state whether his attention has been directed to the statement of Mr. Stacey May, of the Industrial Survey Corporation of the E.C.A., regarding the suitability of Limerick as a centre for a dressed meat industry; and, if so, if he proposes to take any action in the matter.

Mr. Walsh

I have not seen the statement referred to by the Deputy. Facilities for carrying on an export trade in dressed meat are granted to the proprietors of premises which comply with the requirements for registration of premises under the Agricultural Produce (Fresh Meat) Acts. The premises of one firm in Limerick are already registered under the Acts. I have not received an application from any other persons for registration of premises in Limerick.
