Vol. 127 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repair of Sea Embankments in County Kerry.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware of the delay by his Department in carrying through the repair of the sea embankments on the Marshall estate at Calinafercy, Miltown, County Kerry; that the tenants concerned recently offered to increase their contributions under the scheme in order to have it expedited, and if, in view of its urgency and in fairness to the persons concerned, he will make the necessary arrangements to have the scheme commenced at the earliest possible date.

The embankment in Calinafercy East on the Marshall estate has been repaired as the tenants concerned made the required contribution towards the work. The delay in repairing the embankment in Callanafersy West is due to the failure of the benefiting tenants to accept the condition as to the amount they should contribute. Alternative proposals have now been sanctioned and if these are accepted by the tenants, the work will be put in hands.
