asked the Minister for Defence if he will indicate the number of (a) cases which have been investigated by the Referee since the resumption of the hearing of cases under the Military Service (Pensions) Acts; (b) new pensions which have been granted; (c) rejected cases, and (d) cases listed for further hearing.

The replies to the questions raised by the Deputy are as follows:—(a) 1,195; (b) 533; (c) 384; (d) as the examination of applications and petitions has not yet been completed it is not possible to state at this stage the number of cases which may be called for oral hearing.

The remaining questions will appear with written answers in to-day's Official Report unless Deputies concerned notify the Public Bill Office that they wish to have oral answers to their questions; in that case such questions will be set down for oral answer on to-morrow's Order Paper.
