Vol. 127 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mother and Child Health Service.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state when he proposes to establish a mother and child health service.

I am not yet in a position to state when a mother and child health service scheme will be brought into operation. I invited the Irish Medical Association to submit its recommendations for a mother and child service in accordance with the general intentions of the 1947 Health Act and with the provisions of the Constitution and its social directives. I have recently received proposals from the Irish Medical Association and I am now considering them, bearing in mind the declared policy of the Government on this matter.

Would you mind supplying a copy to Deputy Dr. Browne?

He can read it.
