Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Butter Imports.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the total amount of butter which has been imported in the course of the last three months and the total amount which it is proposed to import in the course of the next three months and the origin and price of such butter imports.

Mr. Walsh

There have been no imports of butter during the past three months. In the course of the coming three months, it is proposed to import 6,000 tons of butter from New Zealand at 376/- per cwt. c.i.f. Dublin.

Does the Minister know anything about the admixture of imported and creamery butter which is going on?

Mr. Walsh

We have no imported butter in the country at present.

There is no admixture scheme, official or unofficial?

Mr. Walsh

We have no knowledge of it.
