Vol. 127 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repair of County Sligo Roads.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will authorise the payment of a grant towards the repair of the road from Lugdoon to Farnaharpy, County Sligo.

The information given by the Deputy is not sufficient to enable me to identify the proposed work.

If an application has been made and the Deputy furnishes me with further particulars I will look into the matter and inform him of the position. If an application has not been made, I would advise the Deputy to get the people concerned to apply under the rural improvements scheme, as the work is situated in an area in which the unemployment position does not warrant the allocation of a full-cost grant.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that this road was reported by the county engineer to the Board of Works, and has the engineer of the Board of Works not made any report to the county engineer in Sligo?

I have given the information to the Deputy which is at my disposal, and that information is that the road cannot be traced.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will make a grant available to repair the road on the Carnduff Bog, Ashley Estate, County Sligo.

An application in respect of the work to which the Deputy refers does not appear to have been received in my office. If full particulars of the proposal are submitted, including the name and address of a person who would point out the work, I will arrange to have the matter investigated.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary not aware that I got an acknowledgment from his office some months ago?

We have reports on four roads in the townland of Carnduff and none of these seems to serve a bog directly.
